A broken heart isn’t something that should be discounted. 


This is somebody who’s been in your life, who’s actually been part of your neurobiology for a long time.  And it makes sense that you’re going to need time to grieve and recover.  Your brain is going to need time to recover.  So I think we discount heartbreak a lot. 

We say, “Oh, it doesn’t matter, you just need to pick yourself up, get back out there.”  But some time is probably necessary.  And people should be given the freedom to grieve.
