Does Evil Exist?

Is evil still a relevant concept in our increasingly secular times or is it too mystical to be discussed rationally? What are the different forms of evil and how do we combat them? The Financial Times reviews three books on the subject of evil, perhaps evidence that the term is still worth discussing despite our scientific-rationalist society. “Even though evil as an idea may have been out of fashion, as a reality it has never gone away. Attempts to do without the word in the face of genocide, torture and flagrant disregard for life, collapse into euphemistic absurdity. But what exactly is evil?” asks the FT.
