Kizimen erupts in Kamchatka

And in a real brief update (I can’t spend all day doing this!), the BBC has a report with video of an explosive event at Kizimen in Kamchatka (top left). The scant details suggest an eruptive plume of ~4 km / 13,000 feet but the Tokyo VAAC has not issued a warning for aircraft in the region. Interestingly, after mentioning last week that KVERT was going dark due to lack of funding, they have released a new update with no message of closure – so are they back again? In any case, Kizimen, Shiveluch and Bezymianny all remain on Orange Alert status.
