The Other My Space: Pop-Up Playhouses for City Children

Over the past couple of years, pop-up spaces have populated the entire spectrum of trendiness and utility, manifesting as anything from retail hotspots to smart emergency shelter. Their conceptual origin is, of course, children’s pop-up books and now designer Liya Mairson is bringing things full-circle with My Space – a delightful pop-up playspace for children aged 3-6.

Designed specifically with the space limitations of urban apartments in mind, the compact play room is fully collapsible, requiring minimal storage and fitting comfortably under a bed or behind a door. It is made entirely out of cardboard and is 100% recyclable.

Besides the clever utilitarian concept, My Space sports a winsome aesthetic of modern minimalism with a touch of 60’s-inspired charm and offers a welcome oasis of analog playtime for today’s digitally immersed child.
