What’s the Latest Development?

Undeterred by Google’s ban on porn apps for its Glass device, MiKandi has produced a film in which a couple — played by porn superstars James Deen and Andy San Dimas — have sex while wearing Glass. The trailer, available on YouTube, shows Deen borrowing a pair from a woman on an elevator and then entering an office where San Dimas sits behind a desk. MiKandi CEO Jesse Adams says that with the first-person POV offered by Glass, the actors had to pay closer attention to their movements. For example: “There is no zoom function, so zooming in literally means putting your face up close in the action.”

What’s the Big Idea?

After Google enacted the ban, MiKandi voluntarily pulled its own Android-based app, which allowed users to shoot, share, and even vote on porn videos, and provided a new version that complied with the rules. The app has not been accepted by Google, but writer Michael Grothaus says it’s really only a matter of time before “the connection between flirting apps, dating apps, hookup-finders, and virtual sex-bots [begin] to coalesce, creating new, strange and shockingly intimate ways to fool around with other people — whether they’re in the same room or not.”
