Behind NORAD’s 59-Year History of Tracking Santa on Christmas Eve

If you’re celebrating Christmas Eve tonight within 5 meters of a child, prepare to be peppered with multiple requests to visit www.NORADSanta.org. That’s the website on which NORAD, the joint U.S.-Canada air defense command located in Colorado, tracks Santa Claus’ progress as he delivering gifts around the globe. The Associated Press has a great feature out on the 59-year-old program that explains how what began as a call center for kids to ring in to track the man in red has developed into this:
