The Oklahoma legislature might be of the Devil’s party without knowing it, to borrow from William Blake’s caustic praise of John Milton.
The legislature authorized a privately funded monument to the Ten Commandments to be placed on the grounds of the state Capitol, unwittingly opening the door for other religious expressions including Satanism. Hence, the artist’s rendering above, which depicts Satan on a thrown with happy children beside him.
